A supporter wants to help. Give them one clear place to do it. A one-off donation payment link lets them enter their own amount and pay without signing up for regular giving.

For example, a church collecting for a community lunch could share one link in its newsletter and on its website. The description can explain what the collection supports, rather than leaving donors to guess.

Before you start

Have your Payhere account ready, connect your Stripe account and decide who will answer donor questions. Prepare a campaign name, a short explanation and your collection currency. Check the available currency options before promoting the appeal.

Create and share your donation link

  1. Choose a one-off donation

    Create a new payment link from your dashboard. Choose Donation as the payment type, then select One-off under Payment schedule in Customer-chosen amount. This is the option for a donor-chosen amount, not a fixed-price ticket or membership fee.

  2. Explain the collection

    Give the link a recognisable title, such as “Community lunch donations”. Add a description explaining the purpose and select your currency. Avoid implying that every gift buys a specific item unless that is genuinely how your appeal works.

    If you need a note from the donor, add a custom field. Keep optional information optional. Do not ask for sensitive personal details just because the form has room.

  3. Check the page and share the link

    Save the link and open the donor-facing page. Check the campaign name, currency and one-off wording. Copy the link into your email, message or website. An embed is also available if you want to place the payment form on your own site.

    After sharing, check payments in your dashboard rather than treating a message saying “I've donated” as proof of payment.

Pitfalls to avoid

  • Do not select recurring giving by mistake. Offer a separate recurring donation link for supporters who want to give regularly.
  • A payment receipt is not a promise of tax relief. Confirm any donation eligibility and reporting requirements separately.
